Substitute Fuel (EBS)

Substitute Fuel (EBS) or secondary fuels are generated from waste. The waste used for the production of secondary fuels are mostly generated by households, industry and trades.
The processing of the substances from waste towards substitute fuel depends on the quality requirements of the thermal finishing process.
In terms of the application of the fluidised-bed combustion, the substances need to have a certain corn size to be properly transported and to be dosed correctly. Particulate corn size up to edge length of 250mm can be processed depending on the size of the fluidised-bed combustion plant.

The calorific value of the substitute fuel needs to be above 4,5 MJ/kg in order to reach an independent incineration. Due to the cooled walls of the combustion chamber there is almost no limit for in terms of the calorific value.

Regarding the substitute fuel, the most important values are fragmentation, calorific value, amount of water, amount of ashes and the pollutant content.
WEHRLE's fluidised-bed combustion technology well handles various pollutant concentrations because of its construction and control system. Thanks to decades of experience in waste treatment and its special firing regulation system, WEHRLE's plant strongly reduces corrosion and generated very low NOx-values of the flue gas.

We provide small and middle sized incineration plants (1-10 MWth) for substitute fuels. All of these plants are completely standarised fluidised-bed combustion plants including fuel feed, firing, boiler plant, flue gas cleaning plant as well as chimney.  Besides the small and middle sized incineration plants, we offer individually designed plants up to 15 MWth together with our partners.
