Bunker water treatment in Thailand – WEHRLE obtains new contract

WEHRLE Umwelt GmbH already won a project for bunker water treatment in Thailand at the beginning of 2016. Now a further project has been obtained: the planning and supply of a leachate treatment plant for the Khon Khaen waste incineration plant in the north-east of Thailand.

Approximately 500 tons of domestic waste are disposed of every day at the waste incineration plant in Khon Khaen, producing a bunker water volume of about 155 m3/d with not only organic and nitrogenous loads but also high salt content. The aim is to reduce the salt quantity from 16,000 mg/l to less than 1,500 mg/l.

For this purpose, WEHRLE designs a treatment system composed of a high-performance membrane bioreactor and a reverse osmosis, which eliminates the biodegradable COD using a biology and membranes and retains the salts in the reverse osmosis in order to ensure that the outlet of the reverses osmosis is free of salts to the maximum extent possible.

WEHRLE will carry out the project together with their Thai cooperation partner E-SQUARE, implementing thus already the twelfth WEHRLE reference in South-East Asia.
