Landfill Leachate Treatment by Modern Reverse Osmosis Technology of WEHRLE

For the treatment of leachate, WEHRLE delivers a containerized 3-step Reverse Osmosis plant to a landfill in Greece. The plant is designed to treat 200 m³/d leachate from one of the landfill cells to a high quality, fit for discharge into a nearby river.

In a public invitation to tender, a well-known Greek construction company, WEHRLE and its Greek cooperation partner CHEMITEC have won this order.

The client, a local authority, operates one of the biggest landfills in Greece with several cells. The already existing leachate treatment technology at the landfill site is outdated. The demonstrated significant reduction of operational cost at another location using the same technology by WEHRLE was one of the main criteria for the client to choose WEHRLE for this project.

WEHRLE’s Reverse Osmosis technology is based on innovative engineering and the composition of standardized single components with spiral wound membranes of worldwide availability. These offer technical and commercial advantages for the operator: increased process stability with significant less maintenance cost, with cheaper prices for wearing- and spare parts, compared to already existing plate modules on site.

The decades of experience in design, delivery and operation of modern technologies for the treatment of landfill leachate as well as the comprehensive and solution oriented approach of WEHRLE encouraged the client in his decision to entrust WEHRLE and its partner CHEMITEC with this order. This is already the third common project in South-East Europe with this constellation.
