WEHRLE obtains third L’ORÉAL contract

Only one year after the first contact was established, L’ORÉAL Kaluga and WEHRLE have signed the contract for the extension and upgrade of the existing wastewater treatment plant.

In the past months, L’ORÉAL had given several smaller contracts to WEHRLE for consulting and supporting services regarding the operation of the existing plant. As last step, WEHRLE could convince the client of the efficiency of the process by carrying out a MBR pilot test in Kaluga during 3 months.

On the Kaluga site, L’ORÉAL produces shampoo, hair dyes and in the future also skin care. During these processes, approximately 200 m³/d of wastewater are produced, which the existing treatment plant cannot treat satisfactorily. The dimensioning of several plant components, especially the flotation before the biology and the sedimentation after the biology, are too small. The biology is thus overstrained and does not fulfill the requirements in any way.

This problem will be solved by a larger flotation combined with the BIOMEMBRAT® process. WEHRLE is going to supply both the flotation and the ultrafiltration preassembled in one container each. A downstream RO plant will still make it possible to recycle the biologically treated wastewater for cleaning and rinsing purposes.

The treatment efficiency of the MBR pilot plant in Kaluga was entirely convincing. The client was also convinced by WEHRLE’s on-site presence at any time. Furthermore, the results of numerous flotation tests have contributed to find solutions for a significant optimisation of the future operation of the new flotation.

The extension and upgrade of the plant will be finished in summer 2017. This is already the third L’ORÉAL contract after having obtained the L’ORÉAL projects in Spain and Karlsruhe.
