Leader in leachate treatment: WEHRLE at the ISWA World Congress 2019 in Bilbao

October 2019 – German technology supplier and plant manufacturer WEHRLE Umwelt GmbH is presenting a complete leachate treatment plant at the venue of ISWA World Congress 2019 (International Solid Waste Association), near the famous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (Spain).

The annually World Congress for Waste Management takes place in different metropolises. High-level waste experts, scientists and policy makers from all over the world exchange views on innovations in treatment processes and best practices. Future strategies on waste treatment, waste prevention and recycling are developed in working groups. WEHRLE's contribution to this event was the onsite exhibition of a modern, compact leachate treatment plant in container design. Therefore, visitors were given an exclusive opportunity to get to know a WEHRLE plant and its functionality.

In addition to the demonstration container, WEHRLE offered a tour of the leachate treatment plant built by WEHRLE at the waste treatment center in Bilbao to interested visitors. Moreover, WEHRLE took part as an exhibitor and speaker on the topic "Modernisation and upgrading of leachate treatment plants with examples".

The plant of the waste treatment center in Bilbao went into operation in 2006 and is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Every year, it reliably cleans more than 600,000 m³ of highly polluted and poorly degradable leachate from landfills and treated waste of the whole Bilbao area.
